The weekend in Philly was great. I got home at midnight Saturday night. After a couple hours of finding the best car deal and planning some things with some of the girls on my floor, I got to bed for a few hours before getting up at 715am to go on day one of a MAJOR road trip. Sunday we went to Plymouth (where the Plymouth Rock is), and then drove throughout Cape Cod for the day. We left the Cape around 9pm and headed to Providence, Rhode Island. We drove around a little and grabbed dinner at a local place before heading back to Boston. We got home around 1am and all hit the beds instantly.
I'm just getting ready to leave for day 2 of the adventure: travels North of Boston. Until I have time to post a real update with pictures, I'll leave you with one of the sunset from Cape Cod last night.
Until next time,
Stephanie

Bike Ride, Train Ride, Care ride and more!
Well, I think I forgot to tell everyone in my last post the biggest part of my weekend (like 7th of July)....I rented a bike for $25 and rode around from 11am until 6pm (the hours of the place I rented from). A bike is probably one of the best means of transportation there is to get around the city. You can ride on the streets pretty easily and ride fast enough to move with the flow of traffic in most cases I found. I rode all throughout the city, North, East, South and West Boston. The roughest part was going UP Beacon Hill instead of riding DOWN it. It was a fun day though. Here's a few of the photos from my day.......

Seagulls swarming by the bridge, then enjoying the frog pond to cool off a bit!
It was a perfect day for a bike ride in the city. It made me wish I had a bike here though because I went to part of the city less traveled.
The following day as I mentioned in my last post we went to the aquarium. I admit I was a bit disappointed by it. I kept thinking the first part was walked in was just the beginning exhibit, but that was the entire thing really. The penguins were neat to watch though!
Monday and Tuesday I spent time doing little things around the city still on my list. One of the biggest things to do yet was visit the John F. Kennedy Museum. The place was amazing and beautiful! It was apparently made to look similar to the Martha' Vineyard area the he loved so much.
Wednesday I rented a car and traveled to the Yankee Candle Factory in Western Massachusetts. I also visited South Vermont and New Hampshire on my road trip. Yankee Candle was like going to another world!
Then, it was on to Mount Sugarloaf, just a short 10 minute drive from the Yankee shop! I drove up Mount Sugarloaf in my cool rental car and the view was absolutely incredible. It was different because it didn't how a big city skyline, instead it showed the Connecticut River and farmland and small town.
Then, I drove through Historic Deerfield, MA...a quite little area.
Next, a drive through Turners Falls, my good friend Andrea's old stomping grounds! Unfortunately she is finishing her service in the Peace Corps and wasn't around to see me. The pictures are from the Great Falls Discovery Center. There were displays showing a lot of wildlife in the area and telling about them.
After the road trip I spent the day Thursday recovering and doing work around the house....laundry, activity budgeting for the rest of the summer for the interns, etc. That evening I went on a sunset sail with some people I met on a private 32 foot sailboat. It was absolutely AMAZING!
The big weekend of the summer was here, that is...our last full weekend in Boston. Well, I have another one since I don't leave until the evening of the 29th but the interns all move out the morning of the 28th, and this weekend we will be in Philadelphia for the NSCS Convention. It should be a good time.
Friday evening the majority of us went on a Haunted Boston Ghost Tour I organized....coincidently on Friday the 13th! Then on Saturday morning I volunteered with a group at a homeless shelter where we peeled, diced, and chopped our lives away. I personally was responsible for cutting up an entire box of 4 dozen bunches of green onions- and they WERE RIPE! The smell really got to me by the end and I was in tears, literally from the smell. We also made sandwiches, and prepared various other foods throughout the morning. Then, a group of us met down on Newbury Street for lunch at "Stephanie's on Newbury". I wanted to eat there before I left and I finally did! The place was VERY nice and the food was good, but it was pretty expensive. For a small Caesar Salad (smaller than Finley's side salads for those who know my addiction at Finley's), it was $11.95. If you added chicken for $3 the salad was twice the size for some reason. Weird. Anyways, I got to eat and Stephanie's and that is what was important. That evening I went to the Mystery Theater Cafe in the North End with some people. A good Italian dinner is included while trying to solve the murder mystery throughout the event. It was different than expected, but still a good time.

Sunday I kind of went my own way exploring, and eventually making it up to Revere Beach to see the spectacular sand sculptures that had been built. The pictures don't do them justice!
Monday came around and I went at the day knowing it was my last chance to get out there this week! Well, I ended up spending 7 hours of my day at the Boston University Health Clinic and last the Boston Medical Center with one of the interns who hurt her ankle. It was a very long day but all is well and she is going to be fine. Oh, the best part of the ER wait though was that we were in the pediatric ER since in Massachusetts pediatrics is 21 and under...anyways, the peds ER has 2 very nice plasma flat screen televisions and I got to watch Chicken Little and Monster's Inc. The adult ER had nothing other than a bunch of chairs in rows.
Oh, I also had a phone call on Monday for a job interview. Due to my trip this weekend my other option was an interview today....so off I went! Not before another trip to the Health Clinic with another intern though! So off to my interview....a 2 1/2 hour interview! Yes, that's right two and a half hours for an interview! WOW! I walked out of there shocked by the length of it. It went well but I'm not sure it is something I would move out her for. We'll see though.
So my week has been pretty low-key thus far. I'll be spending much of Wednesday packing for Philly and meeting with some contacts that I've made this summer. I am also packing all of the students a couple of snack bags for the 6 hour train ride Thursday since I'm sure they'll be hungry and we are all too cheap to buy much food on the train! I have most of the bag packed but will probably make one more trip to the grocery store sometime for a couple things.
The weekend should be great. We leave on an 8am train Thursday morning and get home around midnight on Saturday. Sunday a few of us are renting a car and going on a massive road trip to Cape Cod and Providence, Rhode Island and who knows where else. A few are off on Monday too so we hope to park the car out front Sunday night and get going early Monday again and head North. We plan to hit up the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory for a tour and hopefully make it to Maine before heading back down along the East Coast stopping here and there along the way. Then, I'll be packing for home and preparing lots of last minute details for the big "Mystery Goodbye Party" on Thursday. Since some of the interns and/or family and friends read my personal blog too I can't share what all it entails....sorry guys!!!
Well that was a massive update but I feel better now for doing it...I am sure I still forgot somethings though! I hope all is well with everyone. For anyone in Battle Creek the first week of August- I plan to hit up Finley's for lunch and/or dinner a couple times I'm sure to get my fix that I've been missing- so if you want to catch up with me I'd be happy to meet you there! :D
See some of you soon---and until next time,
Stephanie
On a couple different bridges...
The Boston Fire Museum
Boston Harbor Hotel....Rowe's Wharf
The USS Constitution...I went earlier this summer, but this time waited in line to get to go on the guided tour below the deck.
Another bridge....believe it or not, the left picture is ALL jelly fish when I looked over the bridge.
A really cool glass harmonica player by Paul Revere's house
Seagulls swarming by the bridge, then enjoying the frog pond to cool off a bit!

Lots of weird looking jellyfish!
The guy on the left was the Ugly Penuin or something...he was different looking, the center penguin just enjoying the spray shower and then a group of the just hanging out on the right.
There were lots of pretty colors in the tanks!
Monday and Tuesday I spent time doing little things around the city still on my list. One of the biggest things to do yet was visit the John F. Kennedy Museum. The place was amazing and beautiful! It was apparently made to look similar to the Martha' Vineyard area the he loved so much.
The Kennedy Family...
Inside part of the Museum looking out over the water....then me in front of the museum
JFK's sailboat...look through the haze and you can see Boston
A couple different displays...

Note the very realistic looking fish in the fake water....

Me with the Pirate sculpture...then on the right, the 1st place winner
