The waiter would NOT believe I was 21..just because I wasn't drinking.
Note that this is the first time in my life I have been quizzed on the information on my id.
Saturday morning we all had to get up bright and early for our Duck Tour around the city. We rode around town on an authentic, renovated World War II amphibious landing vehicle. The tour went through Boston on land for about 45 minutes, and then we literally dove into the water in the same vehicle for a water tour on the Charles River. It was a beautiful sunny day, but the breeze even on land was quite chilly at 10am!
After the Duck Tour we had lunch at the Prudential Center food court and did some window shopping. We met shortly after a few blocks away to get ready for our party bikes scavenger hunt. The bikes each had 5 people on them, plus the driver that came with it. You sit in a circle and all pedal at your own pace to move the bike. Contrary to what some think, the bikes are NOT motorized at all. I think all will agree that 2 1/2, and nearly 3 hours for some on the bikes was a lot of work!
Tasks: Eat a Boston Cream Pie (or donut in my case because it was cheaper),
and dress in colonial wear.
Another task: Drink a pint of Guinness....well, I was the only 21 year old in my group but I couldn't drink it so I stole this random guy's Guinness for a photo.
Task: Imitate the Make Way For Ducklings statue
Task: Have team members participating with a street performer
After the Scavenger Hunt people went off their own ways and in smaller groups. I know many people opted to come back to the house and sleep...some until the next morning! It was a long day with a lot of activity. I myself went to the basement to the tv lounge/family room and fell asleep on the couch for an hour or two and then a few of us watched a movie that was on tv.
Sunday was a day of shopping. Many people ventured down Newbury Street where all the top-end shops are. There are also places like the Gap but many of the places located are local places. I spent the day at a few different coffee shops with wireless internet doing some computer work, and working my way down Newbury Street throughout the day looking for my next cafe to stop at. I also stopped by the Annual Health and Fitness Expo that was going on. It was pretty cool with some interactive activities...including a pool to scuba dive in. They have wet suits they were having people put on in a tent next to the pool that was inside the exhibit hall. I really wanted to try it, but the line was pretty long. I eventually walked back to the Kenmore area, which is just a few blocks from the house and stopped at a bagel shop to do some more computer stuff- mostly working on resume updating and cover letter organizing to get some applications sent out for jobs.
Monday I spent much of the afternoon at Carson beach. I haven't downloaded the pictures I took but promise to post a couple soon! Monday evening the majority of the group went out to dinner for another student's Birthday. I haven't downloaded those photos yet so they will also have to wait for the next post...
Today (Tuesday) I dedicated my day to sitting in front of my fan in the basement working on the rest of these resumes. I get so many interruptions and distractions when I have been trying to work on them before, hence I spent the day finally getting them all put together and searching all my different websites some more for new postings.
Tomorrow Katherine (one of the interns) isn't working so we are going to go to the beach. It is supposed to be in the high 90's...a perfect day for the ocean with water very close by to cool off in. After the beach I hope to meet up with my long lost friend Shanti for drinks and then finish out the evening with the interns. We are having a potluck...which may end up being more of a snack-luck or micro-luck due to our lacking of kitchen utensils, pots, pans, etc. The creativity that takes place should be interesting at the least! Pictures of the beaches and more adventures later...
Until next time-
Stephanie
P.S. One more fun picture to end this post with...me on the Make Way for Ducklings Statue!
